One morning, I awoke to find the campsite
shrouded in mist so had a coffee and headed out to see what I could
find for a shot. I was lucky to find horses grazing in early morning
sun and mist. I spent about 20 minutes shooting before the mist lifted
and the atmosphere disappeared. I'm very pleased with the shots and
they are a definite incentive to travel to more locations for early
morning shoots.
Yesterday, after some serious work in the garden (building a rockery and digging up most of the lawn to create a large border), we were invited down to Brighton to photograph some fire Poi. I've seen lots of Poi photos before and they often tend to be long exposures to capture the patterns that it creates. I wanted to do something a little different and decided to steer away from the long exposures and capture it like the average person would see it by using shorter exposures. Personally, I think it worked really well and it was nice to capture the concentration of the Poi artist, rather than him becoming second fiddle to the fire patterns. Thanks to Danny and Richard for giving me the opportunity to shoot this. On a technical note, Danny said we went through 4 litres of paraffin! I would love to shoot fire Poi again!
