Our friends took us to Eastbourne
today. I hadn't been down to the coast since October 2008 (and that was
a music promo shoot with a brief to follow) so I was really looking
forward to going to the coast and taking shots for myself and, when I
woke up this morning to bright sunshine and not a cloud in the sky I
was looking forward to it even more.We
were doubtful that the weather would remain fine on the drive down to
Eastbourne, but thankfully,
the whole day was sunny. We walked from the Sovereign Harbour Marina
almost all the way up to the pier when we stopped for ice cream. Yes,
ice cream in February! After all the gloominess of my recent shots the
weather today was really refreshing. When I take my camera out with me on non
commercial days, I prefer to travel light and just take one lens (which
just about fits into my little Crumpler bag). But after previous
frustrations with regards to available focal length, I decided to take
my 50mm, 10-20mm and my 70-300mm lenses, a tripod, and my grad filters
today just in case. All this packed into my trusty camera
backpack.Carrying this weight round is tiring but good practice for
when I start my wedding photography services (where I'm going to have
to carry two heavy cameras round my neck all day).
