Revisiting Shots:

With being a digital photographer comes keeping hundreds of shot shots organised. I often take time out to organise my photos into folders or add keywords and adding ratings. It's often difficult to make a decision about what to keep and what to bin as you always need more storage space and with each photo taking up at least 10 megabytes of space, you can't just keep everything. Then again, there are shots that didn't seem great at the time or shots that may have possible historic or sentimental value that could always be worth keeping. There are some particular shots that I took back in 2008 that I wish I’d kept  for the memories rather than deleting them because they were not photographically valid. 2009 will see me thinking a lot more carefully about what stays and what goes.

Occasionally I will stumble across shots from trips out that I haven't really given much attention to and, suddenly I feel quite inspired to do something with them. This shot of Ashdown Forest, East Sussex being one of them. At the time (October 2008), I took several shots of the sunset over 'Friends Clump' at different exposures and with different compositions and focal lengths. Out of interest, I converted this particular shot to black and white and noticed how much the light across the foreground reminded me of moonlight. I proceeded to change the colours of the shot to match it up to this idea which has now become "Moonset". It's funny how work you did months ago suddenly presents itself with a new lease of life several months later.
