The Project Premise

 
In late 2008 I stood by the back door on a couple of occasions and photographed the garden with my wide lens. The first time was in November when it was foggy, on Christmas Day and again on New Year's Eve. I was pleased with the results and decided to take it further.I always enjoyed The Time Machine especially the scenes where you can see time advancing around the machine and draw my inspiration from this somewhat. So this project is essentially, my back garden throughout the year.

The Rules

These are more guidelines than rules and are pretty simple:

    * The shot must be taken from the back door using a wide angle lens
    * Shots do not have to be taken daily but there should be a minimum of 4 shots per month
    * Shots can be taken at any time of day

I'm also not going to be too fussy about this with regards to technicalities. In an ideal world I would set up a tripod with the camera set up ready but this just isn't practical, so all shots (bar a few night and low-light shots) will be taken hand held whilst standing at the back door.

The Results

When we first moved in to our house the garden was pretty much a lawn with a bed of shrubs at the bottom. We spent a lot of time digging beds and planting new flowers and shrubs last year, so I'm looking forward to seeing the garden mature in 2009. I'm hoping to capture the gradual changes in the garden over the period of one year (though I might well extend the project into 2010) and this will include the changes in weather and light as well as plants growing and flowers blooming. I'm really looking forward to seeing this project when there are a more photos.
