About Chris Richards Photography
With a background in the music business and theatre, I first decided I wanted to be a photographer in the Spring of 2007 after being inspired by a photography-based episode of "The Apprentice". With no formal training, but plenty of inspiration and determination, I started out on the mountainous task of building my portfolio and showing what I could do.
I feel the way I work is the antithesis of what I would call "production line photography". I provide a bespoke service tailored to my clients' needs, creating images that are as individual as the people who hire me .
I operate with a "minimalist lighting" ethos using portable, lightweight, battery powered lighting. This wireless lighting setup allows huge scope for creative lighting both in the studio and on location and it allows me to operate in places where conventional lighting would be impractical. All of my work has been created using this system, natural lighting or a mixture of both.
I take a holistic approach working with the people I photograph to create a relaxed, comfortable atmosphere especially if they are nervous. New clients love how I put them at ease for their photo shoots and my existing clients come back time and time again for this same reason.
I will always have competition from the abundance of photographers both independent and franchised, but I feel I have carved out a niche for myself with my creative vision, innovative setup and ability to put my clients at ease.
